More than a photo, less than a photobook, the series SIX revisit the traditional format of the postcards laperello. Though a simple sequence of six images, each issue explores a photographic oddity drawn from the Beijing Silvermine archive. SIX01, SIX02, SIX03 are the three first specimens of a series which will grow up organically over the coming months and years.
UK Exclusive offering of three new works by Thomas Sauvin. Each booklet tells a small story; SIX01 - How I fell in love with my Physiotherapist / Beijing, August 1988 SIX02 - Soldiers / April 1950 and SIX03 - Space Beauties Calendar / Beijing, 1992.
The booklets are presented in Sauvin's signature style; blending bright colours, bold design with found images from his substantial archive.
Sauvin's work is highly sought after, his archive Beijing Silvermine holds over half a million salvaged negatives from a recycling plant on the edge of Beijing and his unique eye for collecting these images into touching books and artworks blurs the line between archivist and artist, making him one of the most important voices in photography and photobooks today.
