As part of "Altenburg: Province in Europe. An artistic and cultural-anthropological anthology", Ulrich Wüst went on a hike through the city of Altenburg in April 2007, whose atmosphere he tried to capture in his photographs.
"geschlossen" emerged in the course of this work. Ulrich Wüst captures the emptiness and the stillness of the city on small-format colour negative film, depicting a panorama of the uncovered and repressed. The path leads past blind windows, ramshackle walls, and obstructed doors, past placards and notes that are "for rent" or "for sale," and past labels and signs referring to absurd promotional promises and the former functions of the abandoned store locations.
