Tetley's Brewery (Joshua Tetley & Son Ltd) was an English regional brewery founded in 1822 by Joshua Tetley in Hunslet, now a suburb of Leeds, West Yorkshire. The Tetley name represents one of Leeds' oldest brewing dynasties, synonymous with the city for over 200 years.

Red brick industrial buildings, many of which have been captured by Mitchell, provided a substantial background to the city of Leeds. Like the two figures we see heading in different directions, most of these expansive buildings have since parted ways with the brewing industry. Peter Mitchell's photograph insists that we take notice of the first signs of this transformation.

"These buildings scent the air all over town with hops. Now modern brewing houses leave these structures smelling of damp." - Strangely Familiar
