DDR Propaganda book notable for its John Heartfield illustrated boards.
John Heartfield (born Helmut Herzfeld; 19 June 1891 – 26 April 1968) was an artist and a pioneer in the use of art as a political weapon. Some of his photomontages were anti-Nazi and anti-fascist statements. He illustrated a number of high profile book jackets as well as working on stage sets for playwrights such as Bertolt Brecht and Erwin Piscator. His work is a highly recognisable and influential example of art in the protest and propaganda climate of the 20th Century.
