Martin Claßen lives and works in Cologne, where he was born in 1959. From 1982 - 1987 he studied artistic photography at the University of Applied Sciences for Art and Design Cologne and was there in 1988 appointed a master student. His work focuses on architectural photography. Since the mid-80s he has realized numerous projects in Italy, which represent a main theme of his photographic work. In 2009 Martin Claßen was a practical fellow of the Villa Massimo.
